There is a Norse God name correction:
I spelled Blader of Blader and Bragi.
It's actually Balder and Bragi.
Blader, pronounce "blaa-dur", is the Norse God of locked outhouse doors at the start area.
And thus begins the swearing of the TT rider.
Hammer Racers,
Well, there’s some serious fun, or pain, or both that is happening Wednesday late afternoons/evenings at the Cherry Creek Reservoir….
(Cherry Crick Lake) if your roots stem from that upper midwest, upper Mississippi Delta neck of the woods.
I’d like to thank the self proclaimed President of the Robby Mann TT
fan club, Bryan Krause for reminding me to put the front wheel on my
bike before an I go and do the race.
Also in attendance with Bryan were the other Hammer sprinters with
stripes, Dawn Orwick and Rich Voss. They were doing little hill sprints
on and off between thunder, rain and wind.
Dawn also brought 2 variety of Thorne protein peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. Thank your Dawn.
They were, Good and chewy, and as Dawn called it, “Needs a Chaser”.
Hammer
member and race official, Steven Truesdale stopped by the team area
before the race, offering support, conversation on meteorological
forecasting and put in an order for Thorne Protein Peanut Butter
Chocolate Chip cookies. (I’m wondering, does he share with the other
officials? It’s a long drive from the racer warmup area to the start
hut)
On
to the racing – Our early Hammer TT’ers got to ride with the wind, some
thunder and even a nice cold rain. The later racers were under a tent
staying as dry as possible, trying to keep the legs warm, and swearing
at Odin, Thor and Njord. We finally ended up with the tail end of the
storm and looking like Blader and Bragi. (I’ll let you look those up
and decide which is whom.)
The weather, no matter the start time played it’s role with the increased effort required to ride the course.

I may submit a video to ESPN for the next 30/30 episode with Lance Armstrong titled.
“The Pain of Climbing without Doping, but just being a Dope”
or
“235 just doesn’t do Hills so Fast”
With such an awesome write-up, I can’t help but provide the
corresponding pictures (and additional commentary) to last night’s fun!
What a blast!!!
Enjoy!!!
